Fish is a nonprofit agency serving families in need in Elko County for over 30 years.
FISH Elko’s mission is to determine and provide for the needs of individuals seeking urgent or supplemental assistance in Elko County and surrounding Northeastern Nevada.
This includes; emergency food, soup kitchen, Samaritan House Emergency Shelter, Senior food boxes, TEFAP food Commodity Distortion site, senior Homemakers Program, stranded travelers’ aid, employment required needs assistance, clothing / furniture vouchers, showers and washing/drying facility as well as case management services. We also have a thrift store available to shop for those clothing & furniture needs in finding unique items along with re-furbished furniture. The FISH thrift Store available that serves 2 purposes. First, the Thrift Store supplies an important source of revenue for FISH itself. During the past 7 months, the Thrift Store has increased its receipts for the FISH project by 400%. However, the second purpose, that of providing used clothing and furniture, is the primary good served by the FISH store. The Thrift Store provides people with an opportunity to recycle used goods, which in turn funds FISH programs while providing clothing items for needy citizens.
